Installation Instructions

The installation of your Open Mind Commerce is very simple and should only take a few minutes to complete. Once you have received an email from us confirming your purchase, simply follow the instructions below:

Setup Database and DSN Connection

If we are hosting your store follow the steps below. If we are not hosting your store, please contact your host for assistance.

1. Login to the Helm Control Panel at http://www.helmcontrolpanel.net using the login details supplied.
2. Click the Domains icon
3. Click your domain name in the list of hosted domains
4. Scroll down and click Database Manager
5. Click the Add New button
6. Select MySQL 5 as the database type and enter a friendly name for the database. Click the Save button to continue
7. Under Database Users, click the Add New button
8. Enter a strong username and password for the database and click the Save button (Make a note of the username and password.
9. Click your domain name in the crumbtrail at the top of the screen to get back to the Domain Menu
10. Scroll down and click ColdFusion DSNs
11. Click the Add New button
12. Select MySQLas the datasource type and then click Next
13. On the next screen enter the following information:
• Data Source Name: A stong name for your datasource (no spaces or special characters) Make a note of this value!
  
• Server: Type mysql5int.yourdomainname.com where yourdomainname.com should be your actual domain name
• Server Port: Leave this value as 3306
• Database Name: Enter the name of the database you created in step 6) above
• Database Username: Enter the username for the database you created in step 8) above
• Database Password: Enter the password you created in step 8) above
14. Click the Save button and confirm that the datasource has been created.

Web Installation

The next stage is to install your store and for this we have created a very simple to use web installer. Download the auto-installer from here or from within your account area. Unzip the downloaded file to your desktop and then upload the contents to your domain name.

DO NOT USE DREAMWEAVER TO UPLOAD THESE FILES! USE A FTP PROGRAM SUCH AS FILEZILLA AND ENSURE THE FILES ARE UPLOADED IN BINARY FORMAT!

Open your browser and surf to http://www.yourdomainname.com/install where yourdomainname.com is your actual domain name.

The auto-installer will then run through a series of screens and will install the store.

Once the installation is complete it is strongly advised that you download a copy of all your installed files before making changes.
